Been thinking about toing and froing at the track with the car. I have seen
just about everytype of doohickey used to get the car to the line then back
from the turnout area. Are there any restrictions as to what may be used to
accomplish this? For instance, my racing, if I ever get that far, will be a
crew of 2, me and the wife. And she wont participate much except to drive
the truck to get me. So I want to build a tow bar. I have what I think is a
good plan. I have a place where I can attach a 1/2 inch heim fitting at the
ends of my front frame rails. I would attach the tow bar to these. I would
remove them once to the start line and plug the holes (cause they hafta go
through the air dam also). I would make this tow bar out of 1 inch square
tubing with a 2 inch coupler and it would be about 9 or 10 feet long. That
way I could lay the tail gate down and see the complete car during the to
and fro towing. Now, Do I need a supplemental safety chain or some such as
you would have out on the street? Is this an acceptable idea? Ideas, please
or forget its also welcome...
