  I agree and most times when you slightly undergear the tractive effort is
greater because your lower gear multiplies the tourque more that your eng.
tourque falls off---under gear over rev.  This applies when you have hit the
aero drag wall to available power.  wmts>

Hmmmm................now you've really got me thinking. At Speedweek 2001
due to tall a tooth (2.50) we ran 194 1/4s but only 208 exits out the 5.
Really hit that wall in top gear only able to pull max of 6,500 rpm with a
dynod torque peak at 6,900. Figure we need a 2.9 tooth to pull 8,500 rpm in
top. That will be well beyond the torque peak so I'd better pack some
intermediate sets as well when we return later this year, based on your
valuable advice.
