Yep, sorta like Will Kane (Gary Cooper) in "High Noon"-- sometimes you have
to act and do the right thing-- even if you have to act alone. ...and don't
forget how it ended-- all the cowardly townspeople, who were willing to let
Kane be killed by Frank Miller and his men, came back out on the street to
congratulate him-- after he had killed Miller and his men. Kane disgustedly
threw his badge down at their feet and left town, leaving the cowards to
themselves.

Of course, if you carry that "cowboy" analogy a bit further, you could
compare what's coming to the gunfight at the OK Corral. Tombstone is only
about 70 miles from here, so that's a bit of history that I'm very familiar
with.

I always wondered how intelligent, sane people could have stood by and let
the 1938 Munich conference take place. I think we've just seen history
repeat itself and, again, the result of appeasement and inaction at the
appropriate time leads to far greater consequences later on. If anyone does
a bit of research, they'll find that France had a far larger army than
Germany did in 1939 but they folded up like a $2 suitcase. I'm surprised
that no one in the media has compared the present French government with the
Vichy French government collaborators.
