Having lived in Germany (thanks to the U S Army) I was going to ask if you were 
in Germany - - then I got to the last line.  Even in Germany though, an Adler 
that survived WWII was pretty rare.

A friend of mine in high school owned a 1939 Adler. He painted this
front-wheel drive German wonder red-- with a paintbrush. The back seat was
loose and if you hit a big bump, the baseball bat he used to prop it up
would slip off and you'd fall back into the trunk. How's that for weird?

I may be cheating, though-- I went to Frankfurt American High School in
Germany.
