I wouldn't consider that a bad thing. It is much better to have your
insurance coverage fixed BEFORE you need it. Many of the life & medical
insurance policies will not cover if you're injured or killed while
participating in extreme sports. Sure your premiums go up but would you
rather pay a little more now or a whole lot later should you need it?

The lovely HIPAA law was "adjusted" just prior to being implemented to
consider motorcycling (not racing - just riding) to be an extreme sport &
that medical insurance can deny claims for injury while riding. The law in
regards to motorcycles was originally written to disallow discrimination
against motorcyclist (amongst tons of other stuff) but at the last minute
they "adjusted" the wording & the end result was the exact opposite. (So I
work for a medical insurance company that has to implement & abide by HIPAA.
I commute to work on my motorcycle & if I am injured on my way to work on
said motorcycle they can deny my claim because I'm participating in an
extreme sport! - can you see me rolling my eyes from here????)

Better be safe then sorry - check your policies & your coverage! We're all
playing in a sport that requires that extra insurance rider.
