How do you like that Dodge/Cummins? When I finally do buy a buy a pickup
to tow with, I'll take a serious look at one; that combination looks
attractive.
BTW; back in the early Seventies, in the big-time, rock and roll world
of Can-Am racing, Valvoline guys strolled around the paddock area
offering free cases of oil. They even gave it away for your tow truck if
you wanted any. Most teams took a few cases and ran it in their race
cars. A Valvoline decal was worth some contingency money, too.
RC had a big transporter with huge coolers filled with free ice-cold
bottles & cans of RC Cola, too. Great guys!

You are not crazy, I have been running Amsoil 0W30 in my GMC Suburban
with
a 350 gas engine since it had 2,000 miles and their 5W30 in my Cummins
powered Dodge pickup since 8,000 miles. This is Amsoil series 2000 and
3000 oils.
In all my readings and discussions with others, I have never heard of
anyone losing an engine due to the oil breaking down.
The thinner oil gets to the critical wear areas sooner, critical areas
being the rocker arm pivots. The thinner oil also reduces pumping
losses throught
the oil pump, reduces rotational friction, provides more power to the
ground
and also improves fuel mileage.
Have been a Synthetic oil user since 1986 and will never go back to
Dino
oil. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps!
I also believe that the majority of race cars show a particular brand
name
stciker on their car ro collect the cash if they win the race, or maybe
they
are getting their oil free. I do not believe they are letting anyone
know
who's oil they are using as they feel they have the advantage to win the
race
with a synthetic oil. I do not believe any of them are running Dino oil
even if
they say they do.
