Okay here's the fun part that was totally different then anything else I'd
ever seen.... they have street car class's that shoot for a target speed...
which is adjustable after your first couple of pass's....

So... you have a Mustang and you think it can run say.... 140... then you go
out and it's Really a 135mph car... you can adjust your class down to 130 and
try and get as close to 130mph as you can.... they have these classes every
ten mph up to 160 or so... then they jump to unlimited class's... it was a
total hoot to watch these guys running around checking out what the current
speed was for thier class... and how close they were to winning thier event...
the guy who won the 150 class ran 150.014 mph.... kinda like the open road
racers having target speeds... it was just a blast to follow... obviously not
a reasonable way for the SCTA to run El Mirage... but it sure works when you
can make 40 pass's in a day... like you can on these Concrete runways...

They also have just introduced LSR class's based on the SCTA rules... if you
want to set a record in an LSR class.... it MUST be capable of running in that
class in all respects... in other words... it must have 100% of the safety
equipment and be capable of running in that Class at an SCTA event.

Awesome place... great folks ... I'd strongly recommend a trip there for
anyone who isn't afraid of adding an extra chute....

Keith
