No, Bert was from the deep South as we call it. Thats means from our most
southern region of our South Island. I live on the East Coast of the Nth Is.
Reading about Bert in the early 60's and his total lifelong commitment to
developing his Indian and racing at Bonneville was very much the impetus for
me to give it a go.
I think they've virtually completed the New Zealand side of the film. The
man was one of life's true characters and fortunately Roger Donaldson got
onto him while he was still racing. I have a feeling that the film will have
a huge flow on effect to the Bonneville racing scene.
