T-Bird Intercooler

I just picked up a small intercooler from a 1988 T-Bird Turbo Coupe.  In 
addition to the large air in and air out fittings, there is a smaller fitting 
with two rubber tubing barbs. Does anybody know what function it served on the 
T-Bird?  Is it a good place to hook up a vacuum-boost gauge and a boost line to 
the wastegate?
