As the only racig association to acknowledge that there should be thrust
power on two wheels then this has to be an FIM record attempt. The
recognised speed set by Dave Campos is the fastest record under the rules
of the FIM at the present time = The outright World record.

Yes, Sam has gone quicker and set records under other National sanctioning
organisations, but he only 'one wayed' when running at the Bub Meeting
attended by the FIM. By one 1 mph Sam ran the fastest average mile speed
ever observed by the FIM (the new website fails to mention that though.

The FIM are awaiting a record to be established by a thrust powered two
wheeler. Should the Cyclone two wheeler run faster than the Dave Campos
speed it will be the best ever set (based on record speeds at October '05)
under FIM rules. Of course it is to be hoped that the Sam Wheeler attempts
will have raised the FIM bar by 2008 to well over 330 mph too.

As to comparing wheeldriven and thrust - the fastest will always be that -
the ultimate fastest record of all time. The bike world will be just like
the car world at an International level.

If the 'apples and oranges' referred to the different associations
accrediting records, then thats another argument that we have perhaps
exhausted on this site and landracing, com, because of kicking it arouns at
regular intervals.

As to offering to ride the bike - the team can be contacted through their
website.

The site focuses on Bonneville as a pictorial location - so it may be a Bub
meeting Mayf. Certainly will not be a BAR deal without any sanction.

Malcolm Pittwood, Derby, England.
