It can be done but the safety equipment must meet the record for the class 
and could require a lot of time to add/remove to drive on the street. The 
1st. thing is the vehicle must have a race approved seat. The scatter shield 
must 1/4" thick cover the clutch and flywheel area 360 degrees. A Lakewood 
or other steel hyroformed are the only legal ones if you go that route. To 
make a race/street vehicle thats user friendly may require a lot of work.

This is a general interest question, but looks like MP if/when I get
things done.

Also, is it foolish to think one could "safety rig" a vehicle and still
use it on the street?  Any pointers /suggestions appreciated, as always.
