Saw it last night and quite enjoyed it. Yes, it has some inaccuracies,
fictionalized portions, and downright silly aspects (geez, in 1962 you
couldn't register on the salt?!), but it was fun. I laughed, I cried, and it
immediately brought a smile when I saw the salt on the screen. You know that
sense of elation you get when you finally reach the salt? Hopkins' portrayal
was more subdued, but his spiritual take on the "holy ground" was spot on for
many of us.

The sparse but enthusiastic theater crowd (the second night open) probably
portends a quick availability in DVD--I'll certainly buy one ASAP.

One question for Those Who Know--I thought the early courses had a single line
to follow, which is what was implied during portions of the film, but I guess
the courses already set up per the "modern" arrangement of a line on each side
were used.for filming.
