You can also modify the trans oil pump to include a manually  operated barrel 
valve. The modification includes drilling and tapping the  oil pump on the 
pressure side. You run an AN fitting and hose to a barrel valve  with the other 
hose from the valve leading back to the trans. When the valve is  open the 
pressure doesn't build up. As you close the valve the pressure picks up  and 
the 
car starts moving. You run a coupler from the crank to the  trans and 
eliminate the torque converter entirely. You slowly engage the valve  to move 
the car 
like letting out the clutch on a manual car. All the IMCA roundy  round guys 
use this technique.
