Pete Prentice used the brakes on the 500 car at times while at full throttle
to get the car to hook up with the track . I don't know if he did it at
the salt or just at Mirage. He still holds the El Mirage record at 312 so he
must know something.
Brakes on streamliners have historically been plan B when the chutes failed
and need to be as good as can be obtained.
