And they kept that negative or zero caster even when they went to power
steering---very little directional stability. Even the bicycle mfgs knew
better.

Back in the '40's and early '50's Luxury Cars used a small amount of

negative

B caster (2-4B0), to decrease steering effort. It couldn't have a bad

effect on handling

because they drove like a fork lift with flat tires anyway. But they had

a good

"Boulevard Ride" on their two ply 8:50 - 14's.
