Hello list.
First, I got my water pump back from Phil Marino for the second time. He
put a note in with it apologizing and saying that he hadn't inserted the
impellor far enough to make contact with the new seal. I replaced it on
the car Friday, and so far so good. No leaks.

Over the holiday yesterday I got around to fitting my side curtains. I
just got through fitting a new Moss cotton duck top. It looks quite
nice. Thank goodness for the Horst Schach and Malcolm Greene resto
books. Without their descriptions and photos/diagrams, I could never
have deciphered the Moss instructions that seemed quite deficient.

The side curtain frames had been previously media blasted and repainted.
The curtains I have had never been fitted to a car, but appear quite
old, being composed of what appears to be the original Rexine or a
reproductions thereof. They are in good enough shape that I am not
reinvesting in a new side curtain kit. Even though they do not match the
new top well color-wise, I don't intend to use the side curtains very
often anyway. Most of the time the top on my B stays down year-round
anyway.

I used the original chrome strips which were in decent conditions, but
ordered a new hardware (nut and bolt) kit to fit them.

My questions is:

There were only enough nuts and bolts to mount the strips. On the rear
curtains, there are 3 more holes on each of the metal frames on the
triangular area that extends down near the door hinges. What type of
fasteners are used to attach the lower portion of the side curtains
through these holes?

The front curtains have a flap with 3 snaps that wrap around the rear
mounting post of the curtain frame, plus a cloth tab with a snap to snug
the bottom of the side curtain tightly to the top of the door. Was this
curtain designed this way to allow for unsnapping of these areas while
driving to let in fresh air?

Thanks in advance.
