My favorite tool for *persuading* stubborn fasteners is an
impact screwdriver. These usually have a 1/2 inch drive shank
for using hardened impact sockets and a collar attatchment to
drive flat and phillips head bits.
The amount of torque is varied by the size of the hammer
and the severity of the blow. Even if the offending nut/
bolt/screw doesn't budge, this is a great stress reliever =;O
These things deliver a tremendous amount of concentrated
force. You will probably ruin the fastener getting it out, and
on occasion I've had screw heads shear clear off. YMMV.
I've used mine to remove door hinge screws, striker plates-
even sacrificial anodes from boat hulls. One of the best
$15 tools that I own.
