I have experienced exactly that problem.  My MGA had been in the garage
for about 2 years without any attention.  When I went to check it out this
spring, all the rubber in the master cylinder had deteriorated and the
fluid had leaked.  There was of course no pressure on the clutch pedal at
all.  Now for a master cylinder rebuild.
