Moss will sell you a carb balancer that looks very impressive and works
(moderately) well - it also costs money!. One which is just as
effective and which I find easier to use takes about 5 minutes to cobble
up. Requirements - one 18" length of 0.25" plastic tubing, one bottle
of Grolsch (sp?) beer. Take beer, open, drink. Remove little red
rubber seal washer from top of beer bottle and insert 0.25" tubing
through hole in centre of seal. Adjust so that seal is positioned about
0.25" from end of tubing.

To use, take the air filters off the carbs, get the engine running, and
uncouple the carbs. Insert the end of tubing with the seal on it into
the throat of one carb until the seal is touching the front of the carb.
Insert the other end of the tube into your ear (really, just holding it
against your ear is adequate). Listen to the pitch of the sound.
Repeat on other carb and adjust until the pitch of the sound is equal on
both carbs. You are now balanced!

Of course, you could use almost anything to ensure the tubing is always
positioned at the same distance into the carb throat, but haven't you
always wanted to find some use for the washers off those Grolsch beer
bottles ..............
