I was in a similar situation earlier this year. I had a MGB shelll completely
taken
apart. Not one single bolt remained n the shell. I took the shell to a media
blasting
company. 2 days later the shell was picked up. I could find NOT A SINGLE TRACE
of paint
or rust on the whole shell. Everything had been blasted, the engine
compartment,
the underneath, the passenger compartment, the boot, the outside, inside the
door
jambs, inside the heater ducting etc..........
Two days later the shell was taken to a painter who used Variprime to prime to
whole shell. It is now sitting in my workshop waiting for me to get on with
putting it
together.

I would highly recommend media blasting to anyone who is thinking of doing a
ground-up
restoration. I was lucky, my shell needed NO work to it. I put in a floors and
dog-legs
only because this is the usual place that MGB's rust. So while I had the body
stripped
I may as well replace them.

Oh - the cost ---- $400.
