I've always run tubes inside my wire wheels, but have had a lot of problems
with flats over the years. These usually occur with flakes of rust or other
foreign particles get inside the tire and puncture the tube or a wrinkle in
the tube. It seems to be harder to get tubes of good quality from my local
tire guy. I am getting a new set of tire (Dunlops) from Tire Rack 175/14
SP4's and am considering whether to try these wire wheels without tubes. (I
am also having trouble finding those large rubber bands that cover the spoke
nipples).

So..... a question for you wire wheelers out there. Are any of you running
sans tubes? How did you handle the sends of the spokes? Silicone sealant?
recommendations would be appreciated.
