Mike,
I would have it checked out by a mechanic to make sure no structural or
mechanical damage was caused by the hit. I've been hit like that before, had
it checked out, and nothing was wrong but an ugly bumper. I let the hitter
off (they were very grateful). On the other hand, I had an acquaintance who
was similarly bumped, he had it checked and found his unibody frame was bent.
Best to be safe...
