Hi Larry:

The same thing is happening in Canada and we in Canada did the same thing
to Americans in the Portland area.

I have been buying cars at the Portland Swapmeet for over 20 years. I took
them home to Alberta and sold many of them for very good profits to
subsidize the cost of restoring and enjoying those I kept. Portland was a
gold mine of rust free original cars going for dirt cheap prices. No more!
We (fellow hobbyists and I) bought them all.

About 12 years ago, when our economy was in the doldrums due to low oil
prices, a crew of "sharp" Easterners from Ontario came into Alberta and
bought up all of lovely Portland cars. They paid what we thought was crazy
money for them and we laughed all the way to the bank. Then we found out
that they were dealers who were turning them around for huge profits. Now
we have no money and no cars.

I suggest that you advertise in the local auto trader type magazines for
what you want. Try Hemmings and other national publications. State what
you want - specifically - and state your maximum price. See what happens.
You might be surprised.
