May get hit for this by some people, but I do it all the time.  Helps to
have someone in the vehicle to keep it running-best yourself so nobody
to blame if it stalls.  I f it stalls, you have the horrible task of
drying whatever until it sparks to life again, OR push it out of the
way, leave the hood up, distr cap off, andf come back after doing your
shopping!!
