There you have it!  When do you finally stop using those silly measures.
Imperial gallon vs. US gallon, statute mile vs. nautical mile, slugs stones,
ounce, pound, feet, inch, barrel and whatever!

What worse, dimensions of the same entity seem to have nothing in
common. For example:  1 feet = 12 inch, 1 pound is 16 ounce (who
invented this?)

I think that in this respect there could be something to learn from the Old
World, which has adapted the metric system. I must admit that Napoleon
has had some good ideas ;-)

1 Mile = 1.60934 Km 
1 Nautical Mile = 1.852 Km
1 gallon  (US) = 3.785 liter (1liter= 1000 cm^3)  
1 gallon (Imp) = 4.546 liter

Let's see 25 MPG (US gallon!) = 25 * 1.60934/3.78541 = 10.62 Km/l

Mine does average 12.0 Km/l, so that is 28 MPG and in the UK that would
be 34 MPG (or is it that Canada). Hell of a way to compare fuel
consumption. But with the fuel price in the US who does really care?  

In the Netherlands fuel price is NLG 2.11/litre, which at the moment is 
$ 4,18 / gallon, so i have to be a little precouos with my right foot :-)
