I've seen several threads on this subject over the years. My brother has
enjoyed to fine art of fuel tank slushing and tells me that he enjoyed it on
his TD but hated it on his xk120 fhc. He had serious fuel/carb/who nows
what problems some time after his gas tank work and was never quite certain
that it was not something kicking loose inside the tank. from a peace of
mind standpoint, I have always taken fuel tanks to the local radiator shop
where they "boil out" the tank and do all necessary stuff to ensure that it
is clean and well sealed. The cost is nominal..maybe $45-50. While I like
to do maintenance and rebuild stuff myself, I draw the line at things that I
cannot inspect from time to time when I am curious about how that old repair
I did a year or two ago is doing. Don't mean to rain on the joys of DIY.
