My 69 roadster is a fine fine vehicle, originally from california via
arizona to connecticut it has never seen snow, ice salt (hellfire
brimstone and all the trimmings) it is mechanically the strongest of my
cars by far though cosmetically challenged. i have had it for more than a
year during which it has had steering, brakes. shocks, and myriad odds
and ends off the parts car but has never had the honour of being
officially registered in this fine state (dont ask too much but the
theory is that the constabulary would probably confuse a 69 for a 72)

I wont bore you with the minutiae or the machinations of the DMV in
getting this car tested, suffice it to say that i spent 2 hours on friday
and 5 hours on saturday covering three DMV facilities and a total of 118
miles. Most of the people i encountered were pleasant folk(about 12 of
them i think) but its a real hair-tearer when you are stuck behind some
wanker who is arguing black is white over his bloody boat trailer 'cos it
has bald tyres and wont pass.......

The outcome was actually quite pleasing......it failed (of course, they
always do the first time) but only on one point, the balance between the
rear brakes being in excess of 40% - this is basically a quarter or half
turn on one wheel so i am well pleased since i have done a lot of the
work on this one myself (not the shocks tho!!).

So providing it doesnt piss with rain i will take it to maine next
weekend for the beano up there .
