Larry,
We had the same slow-returning pedal problem last year. Hose appeared
OK. I thought it was old, so bought a new one "just in case." The hose
was the problem. It had constricted inside so much that when I attempted
to blow (mouth blow) through it, almost no air came through. Apparently
the pressure generated by one's leg is adequate to push fluid through,
but the springs are not strong enough to push it back.
Try a new hose--the old one is leaking anyway. May have to remove the
starter to make it an easier job.
