        Well, the leather interior originally came on the early cars, like 
pre-68 or so, someone will correct me with the exact years, I'm sure. 
 As for the five-speed, I don't believe any of the MGs had them from 
the factory, although there are apparently some aftermarket 
conversions available.  The heater in an MG is passable at best, but 
I can live with it down to about 10F or so.  I really think all of 
the MGs have SOME rust, unless they're recently been gone over.  I 
count myself lucky that mine is limited to the left floorpan.
        The tops are actually pretty good, as long as they're fitted well.  
Mine lets a little water in around the top corners of the windscreen, 
but my foam gasket up there has shrunk with age, it's not the top's 
fault.
        As for the engine longevity, the number I hear most frequently is 
50-60,000 miles before you really need to do SOMETHING, be it head 
work or new bearings.  Generally a good engine, with a few typical 
leak-prone areas.
