Barney I don't know about the new ones but the 63 amp alternator that was
used from about 1971 to about 1985 is available from any parts store for
around $30.00.  And I believe they are "serviceable" but I haven't had to
do this.  

I assume that there is a difference in the case between the old and new? 


P.S. mine made it to the top of Pikes Peak.    : - )
