How about prices of parts in the old days. I just came across an old Moss
catalog from 1972. Get a load of these prices:

MGA 1500cc factory rebuilt engine complete with head, flywheel, water pump
etc. $250
MGC complete engine assembly (New, not rebuilt) $550
XPAG crankshaft $200
XPAG camshaft $82
TD/TF armstrong shock $36
TD/TF original steering wheel $42
TD/TF original hub cap with medallion $8.55
TD/TF Master brake cylinder $21.15
TD/TF Front brake cylinder $6.50
TD/TF Rear brake cylinder $10.20
TC/TD Fuel pump (New) $22.50

Hey, these are good prices even adjusted for inflation.
