Spencer - 

To get to the bolts that secure the windshield pillars you really need to
first remove/loosen the dashboard facia, that is the portion of the dash
that holds the instrumentation, glove box, etc..  If you don't intend to
strip the interior, you should be able to move the facia enough to gain
access to the pillar bolts without disconnecting the instruments and
switches (a little creative propping will be required).  Next remove the
bolts that secure the side pillars and the shims.  Remove the bolts from
the center stay (the bracket that holds the center rod on the windshield
framework).  You are now ready to lift the windshield assembly off the car.
 I recommend soliciting the help of a friend/spouse when removing the
assembly to avoid and expensive accident.  Trust me!
