Is the door-sill plate dated 1981, or is it just titled as a 1981? I
know a lot of cars are titled based upon the time they were sold to
the customer, not when they were actually built. (my classmate's
1981 Datsun 280ZX is titled as a 1982, for example.) As for when the
last MGB rolled off the line, I'm sure there are listers that have
that date memorized, so I'll defer to them.
