Paul,
was the Ford named after the flying team? It's funny that Phantoms were
used, these are now considered to be of the
'you-don't-need-dogfight-capabilities-just-fly-fast-and-straight' generation of
aircraft.

Great show for my generation, in a time when we had only 2 channels on TV. I
still have my viewmaster disks and the plastic toys. Lost the costume and
cap though. The machinery of International Rescue was:
Thunderbird 1: a silver rocket/aircraft
TB2: a green aircraft that brought all the stuff to the operations area
TB3: an orange rocket
TB4: a small green submarine carried by TB2
TB5: a space station, manned by Brains who controlled the operations
A couple of years ago the series was relaunched, and the merchandise was
aimed at both kids and their parents with a sort of camp accent. It was no big
success here.
