Well, the MG that took me all winter to get running is
still running.

It was smoking a lot and I was fearing the worst, so I pulled the
head and had a look inside. I didn't take any bore measurements,
but everything looks great inside. The new gasket went on without
much trouble, it was a very straightforward job actually. I also
replaced my manifold gasket and that leak is now gone.

The car smokes a lot though. I start it and it exhausts clean
air for about a minute, then starts to smoke. No amount of fiddling
with the PCV system seems to help it.

HOWEVER, the smoking seems to be getting less on it's own. For
an engine that hasn't ran in a half-decade, could it just need
some running to bed the rings in again? It's almost tolerable
now, if it gets any better it'll be fine.

Next up, I broke a thermostat housing stud during the job, and still
couldn't get the bloody thing off. I put it back down with the two
existing bolts and it's "almost" watertight so it's not an emergency,
but I will need to fix it. Any tips on getting that sucker off without
breaking anything?

And finally, my car won't run with the air filters on. This is just
a minor thing I expect I can tune out, but I am guessing the filters
make the incoming air too rich, and it's flooding? Proper guess?
