Last time I "lost" a head gasket my head developed a crack or fissure between
the chambers and also a bit or warpage which necessitated a replacement head.
Maybe you need to have the head and or block checked for warpage ?

        David,

Has the weather been unusually wet where you are lately? Rain blown
into the exhaust system will cause some steam upon start-up, but
burns
off quickly. Hopefully this is your problem and you have nothing to
        worry about?

Don't assume that because you have found one problem, you have found
the
        ONLY problem.
