I can't help with your problem, but I also drive a 77B and am parting
out my 67(sadly). I just bought the 77 a month or two ago it's in great
shape just needs paint. My 67 I drove last in 1989. I since left home
and the car which was in rather poor condition at that time has fallen
by the wayside. I have since gotten situated (new garage) and am very
pleased with my 77. It has a 72 engine and duel carb setup. Alas nay
chrome bumper!!!! What if any parts are going to be salvageable for the
77? I am new to this site and somewhat mechanically challenged. My best
friend at home was a mechanic and he cared for the 67. He didn't
appreciate me spending to much time over his shoulder, I was more of a
tool cleaner/beer opener. I look forward to my new learning curve.

Although the sending unit should be grounded by the mounting, When I got
my
B the fuel guage didn't work. I checked all the wires, they were good,
I
attached a ground wire to the sender ground stud and I have had no
problems
to this day. (thats pertaining to the sending unit).
