Well, from the INSIDE, it's pretty damend good... all things considered.

>> 1. The insured must have ten years driving experience.

Age 45.

>> 2. You must have another car as your regular driver and it must be
normally insured.

'94 Intrepid... wouldn't drive my A in the bad weather anyway.

> I'm guessing this means with American Collectors or an affiliate

>carrier on your driver cars?

My "daily" car is the Intrepid... Here in NJ I'm paying 10 times what my
American Collector insurance costs on my A. I could move to many other
states, but I couldn't make the salary I earn here.

>> 3. You must have a clean driving record.

No tix in years.

>> 4. Your collectable car must be at least 15 years old.

It's 38.

>> 5. You cannot drive the car more than 2,500 miles per year.
> Do they send a rep out to check the odometer every year?

No, but if you make a claim, and you're over your allowed miles, you're sunk.

>> 6. You must use the car only for pleasure driving, i.e. driving to
shows, tooling around the countryside, etc. No driving to work, etc.

> "Honest, Mr. Adjuster - I always carry my briefcase when I'm
>tooling around the countryside!"

"Well, then take us to court, Spiffy." -Mr. Adjuster

>> 7. You must store the car in a locked garage when not in use.

Got a two car garage.

>> 8. You must provide them with a good photo of the car.

Got a camera too.

>> That's about it. My insurance cost me $118 per year. I
>> insured the car for $13,800. (My Dodge is worth maybe $10000 and costs
me $1400 per year.) The company agreed that the MGA is worth that

Dan, to tell you the truth, regular insurance is so expensive in NJ that I
was AMAZED to learn that I could get it for $118, even with the above
restrictions.

I live 25 minutes from NYC, and there are prolly more cars within twenty
five miles of me than in all of several individual states. That's why the
rates are outrageous.
I don't want to argue what it costs to live in NJ, but lots of people think
it's a good idea.
As I said earlier, I would have gladly paid twice the amount for my
collectors insurance.
