I'm constantly fiddling with the carb to try to get it to run better as I
know it is not running it's best. I've read everything I can get my hands
on. The articles on John Swift's page, the Haynes manual, the Haynes carb
manual (which doesn't have the model ZS in it that is on my B, 175CT I
think) and a few other things on the web.

A few simple questions for the experienced:

The Haynes manual suggests the fine idle mixture screw should be turned 2.5
turns out to be in the center and then adjust from there. What about the
course idle screw (the plastic hex nut looking thing the fine idle screw is
screwed into)? Is it supposed to be all the way in? Does the cap on top
of this assembly do anything?

Also, in my reading, I found that I may have made a big mistake when
rebuilding the carb. I used the same washer that was on the existing
needle on the new one and didn't check the float height. This may be a
stupid question, but what does the float height regulate? Is it how much
fuel is in the float bowl??? Should I go back in and fix/check this...I
know the answer is yes, but thought I'd ask.

The car runs pretty good, much better than it did when I bought it. My
problem has always been...if it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough
features yet. I can't help but fiddle.

TIA,
Tom 77B
