Just buy a group 26 12-volt battery and stick in the passenger side battery
holder
and then move the battery ground cable from the driver side battery holder to
the
passenger side holder. That's it! -- no modifications to the alternator etc.
are
needed. Since the 2 6-volt batteries operated in series, they produced 12-volts
just like your new battery will. The 12-volt battery is definitely cheaper and
more powerful than the 6-volts, I think I paid less than $40 for the 525 CCA
Group
26 battery in my '64 MGB.
