I tightened down the rear axle and now it seems to slightly pull to the
right even under acceleration. I've got an appointment to get the
alignment checked next Tuesday at Scotts Valley Chevron.

I'll put in a quick plug for Ray at SV Chevron. He isn't a britcar guy,
but he is a racer and semi-sponsor for me. I've noticed how few service
stations there are left, rather than just gas stations, and how few of
those are actually owned by "car guys". Anyways, if you need to spend
money at a car shop in the Scotts Valley/Santa Cruz California area,
keep Ray in mind. It really is in our interest to support shops where
they understand automotive enthusiasts, rather than just being businesses
that cater to the 4-wheel-appliance crowd.

For tires, it looks like I'll be going with 195-60-14 Firestone SH30s on my
69 MGBGT.
The feedback that I've gotten is that 205s will work fine with a panhard rod,
but rub without. The car will be used for commuting in the Santa Cruz
mtns (windy roads, often wet). I'll use racing tires on the track so absolute
top of the line handling on the street isn't too critical, but I do want
decent handling. The other tires that I'm looking at are the Comp TA HR4s,
which I've had pretty good luck with in the past. The prices are $59 for the
BFGs and $69 for the Firestones.

Does anyone have any experience with these tires or sizes that I should
know about? I did find some decent looking 15" mags off a Datsun 240sx (200sx)
but it's probably better to keep all my wheels the same size and the same
lug nuts (tapered vs. shouldered). I did find an extra set of rostyles
in my shed, so keeping at 14" will allow me to postpone buying pretty wheels.
