OK, I know I didn't disassemble anything or take off the snap ring. I
just reached into the gap with a long screwdriver and depressed the cam
follower/plunger/whatchamacallit. I think it was maybe on the bottom?
Give it a try.
Dennis and Kathy Skog had this to say:
>>OK, I went out to the garage to take care of this. Took off the nuts at
>>brake plate, and did a little whacking with the dead-blow hammer, but it
>>doesn't want to budge at all>
>I separated the overdrive at the brake ring (must also remove the flange) .
>That gave me access to the snap spring.
>I didn't have to use a hammer, just an old dull screwdriver to slid the snap
>spring off the end of the shaft.
