A tough one.  Could it be fuel starved under hard braking?  This usually 
happens when cornering hard, but maybe the carb setup is weird in this Asian 
copy of an MG.  How are the carbs situated on the engine.  What kind of fuel 
pump does it have and have you checked the fuel pressure?  I have also seen 
flexible fuel lines with a hole that lets in enough air to cause a problem.  
This car is old enough that you should replace everything that is soft.

Other than that, there are some off-the-wall possibilities.  Maybe the coil 
wire is loose and when you brake hard it comes out of the coil?  Or some 
other wire is shorting out.  Hard braking is the only time this happens?  Is 
there a ground wire on the points that might be shot?

I dunno.
