There's a huge thread over on the MG BBS on this topic, and many of us have
been sending e-mails over to Herr Zeibart on the topic, pushing for BMW to
keep the MG dream alive and return her to the American shores. Here is the
canned response we all got (although I was impressed we all got it. would GM
do the same?):
Dear Mr. Clarke,
thank you very much for your letter to Dr. Ziebart. As brand manager Mini/MG
he has asked me to respond on his behalf.
Though currently there are no concrete plans to have the MG brand return to
the US in the near future this does not mean that there are no projects
analyzing the possibility of an MG return.
At Mini/MG brand management as well as in many other places within the BMW
Group there are enthusiasts who are working on keeping the Mini and MG dreams
alive. You can rest assured that the British sports car heritage and
tradition is well taken care of within the BMW Group.
