The ground strap in my '71 BGT is at the left hand side of the engine front
near the point where the engine mount is located.
It is an uninsulated braided thick wire capable of conducting loads of amps.

2nd questions - don't know.

Cheers,

Hans

Where should the ground strap be on an 80 MGB (from the engine / trans to
the frame). I have a short cable (6-8") from the negative post on the
battery to the frame. but I cannot find any connection from motor to frame.

Also , while looking a found an L shaped bracket on the left side of the
engine on the last hole on the side of the mounting holes of the oil pan.
The bolt went through the bracket through a hole in the block then thru oil
pan hole. There was no nut , just loose. I think the brack is probably
original, same color as engine. It has a hole in each leg of the L.
Approximately 1 1/4" flat stock, each leg is about 2" Any ideas on
purpose??

Thanks,
