[Dersk, could you forward for me? Thanks.]

Hi all,

First off, thanks for the help finding out what '67
Triumph blue is. Haven't tracked down all the leads
yet, but when the time comes I think they'll do
nicely. Thanks!

Secondly, I am not able to send messages to this list directly. Nothing even
related to the MG is working properly tonight. I have tried to post many
times, from different accounts, etc., to no avail. I've heard other people
have this problem - what was done to resolve it? I've written the list
owner, but I only get the "Welcome to the list, send mails to
mgs@autox.team.net blah blah blah" which does not help me one iota.

Now for some more MGB questions. I am still in the process
of discovering MGB's in particular, and cars in
general. Carbs I can understand. Dual carbs are still
within mental grasp. But this thing, and what it is
supposed to do, is beyond me. Any clue?

What's this tube, why is there a fuel filter in the
line, and why does said filter appear to be completely
dry and never used?

Here is a picture in situ, for reference:

Should this be full of fuel? Is only one carb working,
or what gives? I can't seem to find a similar picture
in any catalogues or manuals.

Also, how bad is it to run with a completely ripped
steering boot? This was discovered *after* a day's
romp on less-than-ideal mountain roads in West
Virginia... should I clean out the assembly before I
install new boots? If so, how? Do I need to install
both boots, or only the damaged one, one at a time?

Anyhow, I did pay attention to the discussion on
filling the boots, so at least I won't have to ask
those questions again. :-)

Had a close encounter of the third A (AAA) tonight when the key turned
freely in the ignition, without the usual virtue of telling the engine to
start. Found out, as the tow truck pulled up, that a DPO held the electronic
bit to the mechanical lock bit with duct tape, which had come loose. Anyhow,
I can't see, although I'm too tired now to try, really, how this is to be
held tight, sans duct tape.

Lastly, is there a chart online somewhere of the best
oils (brands, weights, amounts, etc.) for each
application?

Don't know whether it's best to pester with many small emails or one big
one, but at least now you only have to hit delete once...

TIA,
-Mark
