Hi Joe,

I don't recall any liberal B.S. coming from you to the list, but then I tend
not to pay too much attention to political statements as it is generally a
no win situation to argue about. This guy probably had a bad day and you
got the wrong end of the stick so to speak. Sounds like a retort to the gun
issue that I hope has finally flamed out, but I don't recall your mentioning
anything on that one. Maybe my delete key finger is too fast some times. I
do recall one of the listers getting in a nasty confrontation on another
list and mentioned it on this one, said he was going to quit the list
because his family was being defamed with pictures and comments.

I guess it takes all kinds, but I sure wouldn't miss the bigots and anal
retentive types.

On a better note, it's been hotter than your e-mail here in Portland
(Oregon) and while taking my wife for a evening drive in my MG, I ran into
(figuratively speaking) a TD who waved like your supposed to. Reminds me of
the old days where everyone in a lbc waved to everyone else. First lbc I've
seen in the past 3 or 4 days.

Don't let it bother you Joe.

Hi Everyone,

I love this list, it's great: not only can you post even the most basic
question and get 10 useful replies by the end of the day, but also listers
(sages and otherwise) are friendly and helpful and really seem to look out
for each other. There's a great atmosphere, and I get a kick out of being
able to help out with advice when someone else comes across a problem i had
to solve last month, or the month before. Part of the good atmosphere is the
high level of courtesy and etiquette, and about the rudest anyone ever gets
is to politely nudge the list back on topic.

Why this preamble? Well take a look at the message that turned up for me
today (see below). I have no idea who this person is (i certainly don't
recognise the e-mail adress as a lister), or what on earth they are so cross
about. As far as i can remember my messages to the list have been - in order
of frequency... ;-) - thankyous, questions, and the occasional piece of
advice. Anyway if at any point i have managed to offend anyone else who has
suffered in silence, then i'm sorry - the community we have is great, and i
would hate to sour it in any way.

I hope no-one else has received similar e-mails from this person, and if you
have, i hope me forwarding the message below to the list will galvanise us
to keep our community as friendly and respectful as i have found it to be in
the past, and not to tolerate this kind of behaviour.

Thanks everyone,

cheers

Joe.
