Chris,

I spoke Bert Otten today.
His B was parked into a greenhouse with several other classics.
The area between Rotterdam and The Hague was flooded two years ago and this
water came to this greenhouse as well.
His car suffered of water and no mud up to the seats.
The water went into the interior and affected both the seats and carpet.
The leather was completely ruined and had to be renwed - covered by the
insurance.
The carpet only had to be dried and this gave no problem.

The drying proces however took weeks.
Question of patience.

Several weeks later the gearbox's overdrive solenoid did not operate
anymore.
This had to be replaced - insurance was not willing to accept this as part
of the flooding damage though.

The car is running well now - this winter being worked on some play in the
rear differential gear in order to match APK (like MOT).

So thoroughly check the affected electrics.
Good luck!

Cheers,

Hans

Chris,

Feel much with you on this.
My best guess:
Engine - if the water - mud dip not reach the dipstick entry point, there
should not be worry. Renewal of the oil is advisable though.
Gearbox: same.
Clutch: I expect this might possibly be needed to be replaced. Slave
cylinder cleaned!
Differential gear: check if mud has come in.
Uni joints main drive: clean and possibly apply new neadles etc.
Electrics: replace all bullet connector receptacles
have all electrics which suffered of this cleaned - dried
(GEARBOX!)
Interior: have carpet , seat foam and covers replaced - taken out asap to
prevent rust.

I'll try to find the name of the Dutch guy, who had this same experience two
years ago.
His MG was parked with many other classic cars in a greenhouse near the city
of Delft in the west of the Netherlands.
This part of the country then was severely flooded.
It was discussed on this newsgroup if my memory serves me well.

I'll try this tonight....and ask him to offer you some advise.

Cheers,

Hans
