Too much.

2 years ago I paid $2500 for R and R of my 4 cyl MGB engine. This was a
situation where I dropped off the broken car and pickup a
running car. Full rebuild.

This year I had an engine rebuilt by a national MGB race engine prep shop.
Including EVERYTHING on the engine and shipping across
the country it cost what you are paying. Remember this was everything from the
front fan to the clutch plate, and from the oil
filler cap to the oil pan. Totally custom, totally race prepared. This engine
runs around 90 horsepower, true, at the rear wheels.

Shop around.
