You've done the most expensive part already!! I usually budget Cdn$1000
for an engine rebuild using my own labour. Sometimes the rebuild costs a
bit less, sometimes a bit more - depending on what has to be replaced
and/or machined. Obviously, if crank, cam, pistons, head, etc ALL need
to be replaced, then the $$$ will really add up, but this would be an
exceptional case - in my experience.

In your case, however, engine R & R, disassembly, and assembly labour
generally doesn't cost US$2600. That's Cdn$4000 or 60 to 80 hours at
shop rates. No way.
